A new for students, by students cafe perfectly aligns with Northeastern's experiential learning mission

[Boston, MA, August 14th, 2024] —Northeastern University and Saxbys have announced the newest location of The Saxbys Experiential Learning Platform (The Saxbys E.L.P.), a network of cafes designed for and run by students. The latest addition to the dining scene on campus will open The Saxbys Experiential Learning Platform (The Saxbys E.L.P.),on September 4, 2024 at 7:30 a.m. in the EXP Building

Established in 2015, The Saxbys E.L.P. supports students by providing them with in-depth entrepreneurial opportunities to enrich traditional classroom learning. Every semester, a new student will serve as the Student Cafe Executive Officer, or Student CEO, each of whom will run their own dynamic, bustling B Corp in the center of campus. Saxbys ties seamlessly into Northeastern University’s unique approach to erasing traditional boundaries in education and providing students with experiences that enable post-graduate success.  Saxbys student leaders continue to fast-track to leadership roles after graduation and outpace national averages for on-time graduation and full-time job placement.

"We're thrilled to partner with Northeastern University. As a global leader in cooperative education for more than a century, Northeastern has stood at the forefront of experiential learning. In fact, President Joseph Aoun's book, Robot Proof, played a profound role in shaping the Saxbys Experiential Learning Platform when we launched our first student-led cafes nearly a decade ago," said Nick Bayer, Founder and CEO of Saxbys. "Today, Northeastern and Saxbys share a central purpose: empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators through hands-on, high-impact experiences. We're deeply proud to expand our footprint in Boston and increase access to paid, career-launching experiential learning in collaboration with such a mission-aligned partner."

“I am excited and honored to be the Inaugural Student CEO of the Saxbys café coming to Northeastern University. Being a part of the Saxbys community offers an unparalleled opportunity for young leaders to gain real-world experience. I look forward to creating a strong foundation and setting high standards for future Student CEOs. Saxbys is excited to work toward their mission to ‘Make Life Better’ through delicious food and drink and a welcoming team for the Northeastern community.” said the Inaugural Student CEO, Juliette Nicault

Saxbys has trained and mentored a growing community of over 150 student CEOs, and many team members can access additional one-of-a-kind micro-credential badges and paid on-campus business leadership opportunities.

The campus community will be invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of the cafe, and this bustling new space will require a strong team of student leaders.
